Meet the culinary talent at the helm of BODA. Executive Chef Hyokeun’s journey as a chef started at home. “My grandmother inspired me to become a chef. Cooking alongside her was more than just learning recipes. She passed on tradition, and through her, I discovered my family’s history, heritage, and the deeper meaning behind local dishes.

While my grandmother taught me the heart of Korean cooking, my mother taught me the value of fresh, seasonal ingredients and Korean cuisine’s simple yet beautiful essence.

Those moments shaped my culinary style and instilled a deep appreciation for the care and commitment that great cooking requires. Every time I step into a kitchen, I am reminded of my family—the love they poured into every meal. That feeling has stayed with me from my first job as a kitchen hand at a school to now, 18 years later, as the Executive Chef at BODA.

My team and I bring modern Korean cuisine to life. Our menu draws from my roots—simple dishes with complex flavours, where even the most unassuming dishes carry meaning.
